How a project becomes a gem

Each candidate is under four months old, has 10 to 300 stars, was updated in the last three weeks and has a licence. We read its documentation as sceptical reviewers, and it only becomes a gem if it scores at least 4 out of 5 for usefulness and for polish. Demos, thin wrappers and half-finished ideas are left out. Small projects can change fast, so check the licence and recent activity before you rely on one.
