by riecodes

A video editing skill that runs inside AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. You give it a raw video and say "edit this", and it returns a cut, captioned vertical edit with motion graphics, zooms and sound.

New and promisingUnder two months old. Expect rough edges and fast changes.

What you can do with it

  • Turn a raw talking-head video into a cut, captioned 9:16 clip for Reels, TikTok or Shorts
  • Give feedback in plain words and have the edit revised until you approve it
  • Save lasting notes as rules so future edits follow your style

CapCut Pro starts at £16.67 a month (billed annually, The page shows £199.99 a year for Pro, which is about £16.67 a month. Monthly billing is £21.99. The page says displayed prices are for reference only, and final pricing and taxes appear after sign-in, so I couldn't confirm whether VAT is included. Teams is cheaper per seat (£120 a year, about £10 a month) but needs at least 2 seats. I read the page through a summarising tool and a separate search showed USD prices, so check the figures at checkout.; source, checked 27 Oct 2026)

Our suggestion based on what it does, not a feature-by-feature comparison.

Make money with it

Offer a short-form video editing service to coaches and local businesses, using it to produce drafts quickly.

An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.

Ways a business could use it

  • Produce regular short-form promotional videos in-house instead of paying an editor
  • Repurpose recorded talks or tutorials into captioned clips for social media

Can you use it commercially?

Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.

Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.

Getting it running

Clone the repository, open it in your AI coding agent and type "start"; setup needs Node.js 22+, Git, FFmpeg and Chrome, and the agent can install them.

Follow the official instructions in the project README.

Things to check

  • Needs a paid AI coding agent plan, and editing uses a lot of usage
  • Only tested on Windows 11 with Claude Code; other agents and systems are untested
  • Depends on a third-party editing engine downloaded at setup
  • Transcription needs a Groq key or a local faster-whisper install

Who's talking about it
