What you can do with it

  • Track visitors, page views and traffic sources on your websites
  • Host your own analytics with automatic HTTPS certificates
  • Run it behind a reverse proxy or test it locally first

Could replace

  • Adobe Analytics

Our suggestion based on what it does, not a feature-by-feature comparison.

Make money with it

A freelancer could set up and manage Plausible instances for clients as a paid analytics and reporting service.

An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.

Ways a business could use it

  • Measure traffic and campaign results on your own sites without paying a monthly analytics subscription
  • Offer privacy-friendly analytics reporting to clients, avoiding cookie consent banners in many cases

Can you use it commercially?

Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.

Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.

Getting it running

Clone the repository, create a .env file with your domain and a secret key, add a compose override for ports, then run docker compose up -d.

Follow the official instructions in the project README.

Things to check

  • Needs a server with at least 2 GB of RAM and a CPU supporting SSE 4.2 or NEON
  • Community Edition may lack some features of the paid cloud version
  • You are responsible for updates, backups and a domain with DNS set up
