What you can do with it
- Edit and clean up audio files, such as trimming, applying effects and adjusting levels
- Layer several tracks, crossfade overlaps and bounce them to a single file
- Record audio onto armed channels directly in the browser
Could replace
- Adobe Audition
Adobe Audition (single app) starts at £21.98 a month (billed monthly, Price includes VAT for individuals. The business price (£73.33 per licence) excludes VAT. The student and teacher Creative Cloud Pro plan (£16.24 a month) is cheaper but is a full-suite plan for eligible education customers only.; source, checked 27 Oct 2026)
Our suggestion based on what it does, not a feature-by-feature comparison.
Make money with it
Offer podcast editing or voiceover clean-up as a freelance service, using it as a free editing tool.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- Edit podcast episodes, voiceovers and adverts in-house instead of paying for editing software or an editor
- Tidy up recorded calls, interviews or training audio before publishing to customers
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell (MIT-style terms in the licence file). Some folders may carry other terms.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Getting it running
Download the repository, then run the small bundled Go or Python web server from the src folder and open localhost:5055; a hosted version is also available at audiomass.co.
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- Licence is not clearly stated (no recognised licence detected), so check before commercial use or redistribution
