doodle-note
by Onyx-Dev-Labs
DoodleNote is a desktop app that records your microphone and the other side of a call, transcribes it on your own computer, and combines the transcript with your rough notes into a meeting summary. It is for people who want meeting notes without a bot joining the call or audio leaving their device.

What you can do with it
- Record a call from your own computer and get a local transcript with editable speaker labels
- Generate a summary with decisions, action items and owners from your notes and the transcript
- Ask follow-up questions about a meeting, or let an AI tool search your notes through the opt-in read-only MCP server
Make money with it
A freelancer could offer meeting-minutes and follow-up summaries to clients as a paid add-on service.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- Keep records of client calls, with decisions and action items, without paying for a per-seat transcription service
- Record sensitive client or supplier meetings without sending audio to a third party
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Getting it running
Download the installer for macOS (Apple Silicon) or Windows from doodlenote.ai; building from source needs Node.js, pnpm and, on Mac, Xcode.
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- Windows build is beta and unsigned, so SmartScreen shows a warning
- Official Mac support is Apple Silicon only, on macOS 14 or later
- iPhone app and web workspace are still in development
- Better AI notes may need your own provider API key, which can cost money
- Recording calls may require consent from other participants
- Optional hosted Sync costs $10 per user per month
