AI agents and automation

agentring

by mutonby

agentring lets AI coding agents such as Claude Code ring your Android phone over the internet when they need a decision or have finished a job. A voice AI talks to you on the call and passes the transcript back to the agent, and you can also call your agents from the app.

Hidden gemIt lets a long-running coding agent ring your locked Android phone over self-hosted VoIP, talk the problem through with a voice AI and hand the transcript back. It works with Claude Code, Codex and others through MCP, and it has a demo video, setup docs, CI and a clear security section. Best for developers running long agent jobs who want a real phone call when blocked.

What you can do with it

  • Have an agent call your locked phone when a task fails or it needs approval before deploying
  • Call your own agents from the app and ask questions such as what CI said
  • Receive missed calls as messages and reply from the notification

Make money with it

A freelancer could set up agent-to-phone alerting and approval workflows for clients who run automation, and charge for the setup and support.

An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.

Ways a business could use it

  • Let unattended AI agents doing long jobs, such as migrations or deployments, ask you for a decision by phone instead of stalling
  • Get a daily spoken briefing from an assistant agent about your inbox or build status without paying per-minute telephony fees

Can you use it commercially?

Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.

Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.

Getting it running

You run the relay and LiveKit with Docker Compose, install the daemon with uv, set up a free Firebase project, and install the Android app from the Releases page.

Follow the official instructions in the project README.

Things to check

  • Pre-release software, tested on one phone (Pixel 6, Android 16)
  • Android only, with no iOS app
  • Needs a cloud voice AI API key (Gemini, OpenAI, Grok or Phonic), and call audio goes to that provider
  • Needs a Firebase project, and Google's push service can read pushed text
  • One user per relay, with no accounts
  • The voice AI acts on what it hears, so anyone holding your phone could use your agents' tools

Checked 02 Nov 2026. Summary drafted by AI from the project's README.

Worth a look

iFixAi is a command-line tool that tests an AI agent by placing it in a simulation of your business and sending it realistic requests, including ones that push it beyond its role. A separate AI judge grades each reply, so you can see whether the agent behaves as intended.

claude-mem thedotmack
Worth a look

Claude-mem records what an AI coding assistant does during a session, summarises it with AI, and feeds the relevant parts back into later sessions. It is for people who want their coding agent to remember project decisions and history instead of starting from scratch each time.
