Shiyin
by juinwei7
Shiyin is a meeting notes app for Mac, with a Windows version, that records meetings without a bot and transcribes them on your own computer. It identifies who said what and uses your own Claude, ChatGPT or other AI service to write timestamped minutes.

What you can do with it
- Record Zoom, Meet or Teams calls and see a live transcript while you record
- Get minutes with summary, decisions and action items, each linked to the exact moment in the recording
- Export notes as Markdown, PDF or Word and transcripts as subtitle files, or ask questions across past meetings
Make money with it
A freelancer could offer a meeting-minutes service for clients, using the app to produce accurate, timestamped notes quickly.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- Produce client meeting minutes and action lists automatically, saving time and the cost of a paid transcription subscription
- Keep sensitive client calls private by transcribing on your own machine, then organise them into project or client folders
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Getting it running
Download the DMG from the website or Releases and drag it to Applications (or run the Windows installer); building from source needs Xcode 26.
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- Mac version needs Apple Silicon and macOS 26 or later
- The Mac app is not notarised by Apple, so the first launch needs a manual security override
- Windows installer is not code-signed
- Writing the minutes needs your own Claude, Codex or other AI account or API key, which may cost money
- Interface and README are mainly in Traditional Chinese, with English available
- The first run downloads about 1.7 GB of models
