ai-website-cloner-template
by JCodesMore
A template that lets an AI coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or OpenCode recreate an existing website as a Next.js app from a single URL. It is meant for rebuilding sites you own, or studying how a site's layout and behaviour were built.

What you can do with it
- Rebuild a site you own from WordPress, Webflow or Squarespace into a Next.js codebase
- Recover the code for a live site when the original repository or developer is gone
- Study how a real site achieves its layouts, animations and responsive behaviour
Make money with it
A freelancer could offer website migration and rebuild services for clients whose sites are on old platforms or whose source code has been lost.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- Move an existing site off a hosted builder into an editable Next.js codebase you control, avoiding platform fees
- Recreate a lost or legacy client website quickly as a paid freelance rebuild or migration job
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Getting it running
Clone or generate the repository from the template, install dependencies with npm on Node.js 24 or later, run npm run check, then use the /clone-website command in your AI coding agent (Docker is also available).
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- Needs a paid AI coding agent subscription or API access, with best results on Claude Code
- Cloning sites you do not own risks copyright, branding and terms-of-service breaches
- The README says it must not be used for phishing or impersonation
- Output quality depends on the agent and may need manual fixes
