AI agents and automation

ragflow

by infiniflow

RAGFlow is a self-hosted engine that reads your documents, such as PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets and web pages, and lets an AI model answer questions about them with cited sources. It is for building chatbots, search tools and AI agents that rely on your own data.

What you can do with it

  • Upload company documents and ask questions with answers that cite their sources
  • Build AI agents from pre-built templates that retrieve information in several steps
  • Connect the knowledge base to your own apps through its APIs

Make money with it

A freelancer could set up and maintain private document-search assistants for small firms, such as law, accountancy or property practices, for a setup fee and monthly support charge.

An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.

Ways a business could use it

  • Build an internal helpdesk bot that answers staff or customer questions from your manuals, policies and contracts, which cuts support time
  • Offer clients a document question-and-answer system built on their own files as a paid project

Can you use it commercially?

Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.

Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.

Getting it running

It is installed with Docker and Docker Compose, and the README recommends at least 4 CPU cores, 16 GB of RAM and 50 GB of disk space. A hosted cloud version is also available.

Follow the official instructions in the project README.

Things to check

  • Needs an API key for an external language model, which may cost money, unless you run a local model
  • Running local models needs extra hardware
  • Version 1.0.0 is still at the release-candidate stage
  • Fairly heavy to run, with a multi-part Docker setup

Who's talking about it

Checked 27 Oct 2026. Summary drafted by AI from the project's README.
