by hashgrid-labs
A Python client for Hashgrid DNA, a hosted search service that learns from the scores you give to results. It embeds text and images on your own machine, sends only the vectors to the service, and keeps your content in a local index.

What you can do with it
- Add text or images to a grid and search them in plain language
- Score results from -1 to 1 so later searches rank better
- Connect an AI agent to the search through the bundled local MCP server
Make money with it
A freelancer could build and sell tailored search for small shops or document collections, using the feedback scoring as a selling point.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- Add a search box to a product catalogue or help centre that improves as staff or customers rate results
- Build a searchable library of photos or documents without sending the content to a third party
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Add it to Claude Code

From the official MCP Registry (ai.hashgrid/sdk). Only connect MCP servers you trust: they can act on your behalf.
Getting it running
Install with pip using 'hashgrid[local]', then create a grid to get an API key and set it as HASHGRID_API_KEY.
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- Depends on the hosted Hashgrid DNA service, which is not self-hosted
- Free grids are limited to 1024 items and a few grids per address per day
- OpenAI or Voyage embedders need paid API keys
- Very new project with few stars
