OpenManus
by FoundationAgents
OpenManus is an open-source general-purpose AI agent that takes an idea typed into a terminal and works through it using tools such as a web browser. It is a free alternative to the invite-only Manus agent, and you supply your own language model API key.

Make money with it
A freelancer could offer research, data-gathering or reporting services and use the agent to speed up the routine work.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- Automate repetitive research and web browsing tasks to save staff time
- Produce quick data analysis and charts from business data without a paid analytics tool
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Getting it running
Clone the repository, create a Python 3.12 environment with conda or uv, install requirements with pip, then add your API key to config/config.toml and run python main.py.
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- Needs a paid language model API key, so running costs depend on usage
- Multi-agent mode (run_flow.py) is described as unstable
- Browser automation can act on real websites, so check results and site terms of use
- Terminal-only setup with no graphical interface
