codebase-memory-mcp
by DeusData
An MCP server that indexes source code, documentation and infrastructure files into a local knowledge graph, which AI coding agents or the command line can query. It helps agents and developers find code, trace calls and see what a change might affect without repeatedly reading files.

What you can do with it
- Give a coding agent such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex a searchable graph of your repository
- Trace callers, dependencies and affected files before making a change
- Explore the codebase visually in the CBM Lens interface and ask a local model about selected code
Make money with it
A freelance developer could offer faster codebase audits, onboarding and legacy-code maintenance by using the graph to map unfamiliar projects quickly.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- Cut AI coding costs by letting agents run targeted graph queries instead of reading many files
- Get a freelance developer or small team up to speed quickly on a client's unfamiliar codebase
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Getting it running
Install with a one-line shell script on macOS or Linux, or a PowerShell installer on Windows. It is a native binary and needs no Docker.
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- CBM Lens visual interface is an open beta (v0.0.1)
- Smart CI test selection is experimental and limited to supported C/C++ test harnesses
- The installer writes configuration for the AI clients you select
- The install script is piped straight into bash, so check it first
