claude-obsidian

by AgriciDaniel

A Claude Code plugin that turns sources such as articles, papers and transcripts into a linked set of Markdown notes inside an Obsidian vault. It is for building a searchable personal knowledge base that you can ask questions of and keep tidy.

Worth a lookEstablished, with a few things to check (listed below).

What you can do with it

  • Drop articles, papers or transcripts into an inbox folder and have them turned into linked, sourced notes
  • Ask questions answered from your own notes, with citations, then save good answers as new notes
  • Run a health check to find dead links, orphan pages and gaps in your vault

Could replace

  • Notion

Our suggestion based on what it does, not a feature-by-feature comparison.

Make money with it

A freelancer could offer to set up and maintain research knowledge bases for clients, such as consultants or small agencies.

An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.

Ways a business could use it

  • Build an internal knowledge base from client documents, research and meeting transcripts so staff can find answers quickly
  • Keep organised market and competitor research that a freelancer can reuse across client projects

Can you use it commercially?

Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.

Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.

Getting it running

Install it as a Claude Code plugin with two claude plugin commands (needs Python 3.11 or newer), then open the folder as an Obsidian vault.

Follow the official instructions in the project README.

Things to check

  • Needs Claude Code, which requires an Anthropic subscription or paid API access
  • Writing to the vault on Windows needs WSL
  • Content is sent to the AI service you chat with

Checked 03 Nov 2026. Summary drafted by AI from the project's README.
